The Greater Memphis Chamber Board of Governors serves as an additional leadership base for the Chairman's Circle and Board of Directors. Members of this level interact with the top members of the Memphis Business Community. View the full list of Board of Governors members here. Each issue of Memphis Crossroads, we highlight one of our BOG members, and today we're introducing you to Gene Henson, Regional President - Memphis/North MS - for Trustmark Bank.

1. Tell us a little about Trustmark Bank.
Trustmark is a diversified financial services company providing banking, wealth management and insurance solutions in our five-state footprint through our subsidiaries, Trustmark National Bank, Trustmark Investment Advisors and Fisher Brown Bottrell Insurance, Inc.  Memphis serves as the regional headquarters for the Tennessee and North Mississippi markets.

2. What is your company’s biggest success in the past year?
We continue to be a strong regional performer in the Memphis market. During the past year, we have built upon our brand through a continued commitment to provide outstanding customer service accomplished by a focus on living and exhibiting our core values every day. Also, we are proud that Trustmark was recently recognized as having the “Highest Customer Satisfaction with Retail Banking in the South Central Region” as part of the J.D. Power 2016 U.S. Retail Banking Satisfaction Study.*

3. What are the benefits of being a Chamber member?
The opportunity for networking and building business relationships is a primary benefit of Chamber membership. We also believe that supporting the Chamber is an important way to support the community. In particular, as the Greater Memphis Chamber works to improve the economic environment of the area, Trustmark will continue to participate in activities that will have a direct and positive impact on consumers and businesses in the Memphis area. We understand there is a definite need to provide financial literacy and education to consumers in the markets that we serve. Trustmark has made significant contributions to this effort by providing financial support and industry experts to help promote financial education throughout all of our markets. We are able to accomplish such efforts as this in collaboration with the Chamber and other community partners.

4. What about Memphis makes you most excited at the moment?
There are so many wonderful opportunities in Memphis right now with new businesses, civic projects and the resurgence of many areas in our city. The business climate is improving, and we are optimistic that the upward momentum will continue. We are proud to be in the Memphis market and will continue to invest both financial and human capital to help the city grow and prosper.
