Member Spotlight: Pet Fit Animal Rehabilitation

As the first rehabilitation-only facility for small animals in Memphis, member Pet Fit Animal Rehabilitation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for your pets. Dr. Roxana Carabello shares with us today the services her facility offers and what led her to this career.

1. Tell us a little about Pet Fit Animal Rehabilitation.
Pet Fit is a physical rehabilitation clinic for animals. We use the same manual techniques and modalities used by physical therapists in human patients. We work with geriatric pets to improve their daily function and reduce pain, post-surgery patients to speed up the recovery and dogs that do sports to improve their performance. We also offer a weight-loss clinic with a combination of exercise and diet to lose weight and fitness for dogs that are not injured but the owner wants to improve their physical condition.

2. When did you know that you wanted to work with animals for a living?
I used to go to a friend's ranch and work with cattle and sheep in Uruguay, my native country. I was 7 years old when I told my parents I wanted to be a veterinarian.

3. What makes your facility unique?
We are a referral clinic offering our services to all the veterinary clinics in town. We are the only clinic in this area with a veterinarian certified in animal rehabilitation and with an indoor heated pool for animals.

4. What do you love most about your job?
I love working in close contact with owners and their pets. We all work together with the same goal to improve their pet's quality of life. It is very rewarding in some cases, like when you can see a dog walk again after being paralyzed.

5. What is the best way our members can contact you about your services?
The best way to contact us is to call us at 901-405-5385 or 901-440-8053. Or you can email us at petfitrehab@att.net. You can also find information at our website petfitrehab.com
