Airport Authority President and CEO Larry Cox Named Board Chair for the Greater Memphis Chamber

Business executive, Larry D. Cox, has been named Chairman of the Board for the Greater Memphis Chamber, by unanimous vote by his fellow directors. Cox, who is President and CEO of the Memphis—Shelby County Airport Authority, assumes this leadership position January 1, 2012.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to continue the momentum that this Chamber has built over the past few years,” said Cox. “This year alone, the chamber has played a significant role in recruiting and retaining companies, such as Electrolux, Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc., KTG, and Great American Steamboat Co. Whether through its Small Business Council, Existing Business Team, or Community Development programs, the Greater Memphis Chamber is at the forefront of economic development in Memphis and Shelby County.”
Cox, has served as President and CEO of Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority for 26 years at Memphis International Airport after earning BBA and MBA degrees from University of Memphis and serving three years in the U.S. Air Force. Past Chair of the American Association of Airport Executives, he maintains an active role in addressing industry challenges. He recently led the formation of an Energy Task Force responding to challenges caused by escalating fuel costs. He has testified before Congress and provided policy recommendations on matters vital to the industry. For the past four years he has been at the forefront of Memphis’ transformation into America’s Aerotropolis thru a comprehensive community-wide economic development initiative and service on the Aerotropolis Steering Committee.
