New Free Government Bid and RFP Notification Service for Chamber Members
Release date: 3/31/2009
The Greater Memphis Chamber has partnered with Onvia, Inc., a leading provider of public and private bid notification services to provide members access to timely, relevant new business opportunities each business day. Starting Tuesday, March 31, the Greater Memphis Chamber will deliver new government bids and RFPs to member companies that opt into the service. The notifications will be part of the Chamber’s eNewsletter and will include actual project information forstate, local, and education bids, RFPs including notification of projects funded by the government economic stimulus plan.
“The biggest need for our members in these challenging economic times is new business opportunities,” said Linda Cornish, Vice President of Member Development at the Greater Memphis Chamber. “By incorporating this benefit into their membership, members will have another added-value opportunity to potentially grow their business.”
This new service is included in the overall membership benefits for active paid members of the Greater Memphis Chamber. The project notifications will be for the Greater Memphis Metropolitan area (eight counties around Memphis). The cost to purchase a similar Onvia notification subscription is from $695 to $995 a year - per business - depending on the selected geographic market.
“The Greater Memphis Chamber is the first Chamber in the country to partner with Onvia to deliver this valuable service to their membership,” said Irv Alpert, Executive Vice President of Onvia. “We cover all government procurement opportunities from all levels of government in one place so businesses have the information they need to find appropriate contracts, and agencies can find appropriate suppliers.”
“We want our members to have an advantage and excel,” said John Moore, President & CEO, Greater Memphis Chamber. “This level of access to new business will generate revenue, create more jobs and allow our local companies to grow.”
“The Greater Memphis Chamber partnership is an outgrowth of our company’s commitment to improve the flow of information between government and business and our desire to contribute to the critical needs of both constituencies,” said Mike Pickett, Onvia CEO.
