“I am honored to join the Chamber staff and work with the Chairman’s Circle on the important work they do every day to make our city better,” said Shea Flinn, Sr. Vice President, Chairman’s Circle, Greater Memphis Chamber. “After serving for seven years on the City Council, I realized that even though we had done some amazing work, there was still more to do. The Chamber is the right place for me to continue making Memphis a better place to live and work.”
Flinn points to the pre-k sales tax referendum defeat in the fall of 2013 as a turning point for him. “When we were not able to fund pre-k through the referendum it was a wake-up call to me,” said Flinn. “The Chairman’s Circle continued to work on it and eventually found alternative resources. It made me realize they had the leadership and ability to prioritize an important initiative like this and make it happen.”
“Shea is a perfect match for what the Chairman’s Circle is doing in terms of his ability to bring people together and have them communicate on important issues,” said Duncan Williams, President of Duncan-Williams, Inc. and Co-Chair of the Chamber’s Chairman’s Circle. “At the same time, he has experience with a very successful business. That combination of talent and experience is exactly what we need to grow the Chairman’s Circle and keep our community moving forward.”
