Government Affairs Council
Mission
The Government Affairs Council (GAC) serves as the advocacy arm of the Greater Memphis Chamber, communicating the Memphis business agenda to all respective legislative bodies as developed by the Government Affairs Executive Committee and approved by the Chamber Board of Directors.
Members of the Committee include public policy, public affairs/government affairs professionals and those with an interest in public affairs from member companies of the Greater Memphis Chamber. To be a member of the GAC, contact Dexter Muller. You must be in good standing with the Chamber to participate.
Strategies
The GAC promotes legislation that will improve the quality of life in Memphis and positively impact the region’s growing economy. Through meetings with government officials and sitting in on council meetings, the GAC works to ensure the interests of the business community are not only heard, but acted on.
The GAC meets biannually and additional meetings may be scheduled as issues surface throughout the legislative session. GAC members as well as the Chamber’s general membership are encouraged to participate in the regular legislative activities of the Greater Memphis Chamber such as the MEM2NASH (Nashville) trip, MEM2DC (Washington DC) trip and other similar activities.
