On January 27, Amazon announced a $200 million investment in a new fulfillment center located in the Frayser/Raleigh community. The new robotics facility will create over 1000 new full-time jobs with industry leading pay. Each position will come with full-time comprehensive benefits as well as 20 weeks of maternity/paternity leave.

The Greater Memphis Chamber is excited to announce Byron Reese, author of The Fourth Age: Smart Robots, Conscious Computers, and the Future of Humanity, as the first speaker of the Greater Memphis Chamber’s 2020 Thought Leadership Series. Reese will be leading a conversation at the Memphis Botanic Gardens February 25th on how today’s technology can solve many of our biggest global challenges.
Last week, the Greater Memphis Chamber opened its doors to welcome members and non-members for our Chamber 101 open house event. Chamber 101 gives attendees the opportunity to take a tour of the Chamber offices and meet with each department to gain a better understanding of the work we do at the Chamber.
In 2017, a study by American Express found that between 2007 and 2016, the number of women-owned businesses in Memphis grew by more than 122 percent, making Memphis the top market in the U.S. for growth of women-owned businesses. Additionally, more than half of the population in City of Memphis is female.

H. Montgomery Martin was born in Memphis in 1955. After graduating from Memphis University School, he attended Auburn University from 1973-1978, where he earned a degree in Building Science before moving back to Memphis in 1978 to work for Clark and Clark, which was the predecessor to MCDR. He worked as an estimator and project manager eventually rising within the company to Principal and Vice-President. In 1995, he left MCDR to form Montgomery Martin Contractors, LLC (MMC). It had always been his vision to create a service oriented, client-focused company that could provide high quality construction services for a competitive cost.

No doubt about it, Coronavirus is definitely a challenge. Companies are taking an abundance of caution and concern about the unknown territory, which have led to the cancellation of large-scale events, in person meetings and non-essential travel.
