Prospero Health announces new operational headquarters in Downtown Memphis.

Boston-based healthcare startup Prospero Health will invest more than $1.5 million and create 249 jobs in Shelby County, officials announced today.

“This is the latest in a string of wins for Tennessee and for Memphis and Shelby County’s strong life sciences and healthcare sector,” said Gwyn Fisher, Greater Memphis Regional Director, Economic & Community Development at State of Tennessee. Since 2010, the healthcare and life sciences sector has seen a 10 percent growth rate in Tennessee.”

Prospero Health will add 60 employees to its new Memphis office space by early 2020 with plans to expand its services nationwide to include 900 doctors and nurses over the next five years. The company also plans to have support operations of 250 workers in Memphis as well as smaller teams in both Boston and Minneapolis.

The company selected Memphis for its operation headquarters and back office operations because of the city’s central location, according to a report from the Memphis Business Journal.

Since 2010, Tennessee has seen a nearly 10 percent growth in the healthcare and life sciences sector.

Prospero Health, a provider of home-based palliative care and supportive care, launched in earlier this year after an announcement that in-home palliative care would be covered by Medicare.

According to the company, its mission is to empower people facing serious illness to live their best lives now by surrounding them with a team of caring and compassionate experts. These experts include physicians, nurses, and social workers who provide 24/7 supportive care in the home, via telehealth, or over the phone.
