Meet the Chairman’s Circle: Bill Courtney

bill courtneyBill Courtney is president and CEO of Classic American Hardwoods, Inc., a lumber company that’s grown to an excess of $45 million in annual sales and was named Exporter of the Year earlier this year by the Export-Import Bank of the United States. Having founded the company in 2001, Courtney still oversees day-to-day operations at the 45-acre manufacturing facility and domestic sales office near the Memphis riverfront and at international sales offices in China and Vietnam. The native Memphian joined the Chairman’s Circle believing the group was working positively to effect business growth, and thus, the tax base.

GMERG report predicts growth in Memphis HQ/finance industry

Report: Memphis No. 1 in the nation for its Supply Chain & Logistics concentration

  • The Greater Memphis Chamber released its 2022 Greater Memphis Market Supply Chain & Logistics Industry Report on April 19, the latest in a monthly series of industry reports.
  • In Greater Memphis, the supply chain and logistics industry’s workforce has grown 25% over the past decade to reach more than 119,000 people at more than 3,600 companies in 2022.
  • Greater Memphis has the highest concentration of Black supply chain and logistics talent of any major U.S. metro and the highest concentration of female talent of its peer metros.

April Ambassador of the Month: Joseph ‘C.J.’ Harris

Joseph “C.J.” Harris is a native Memphian and works every day to be a “change creator”. Growing up in the North Memphis community near Jackson and Hollywood greatly assisted in building his personal and professional skill sets that he has today. He takes great pride in his 26-year marriage to his beautiful wife Chauntay Harris along with his two amazing children Jordan Harris 25 ( currently in Grad School at UAB for Epidemiology ) and Kennedi Harris 15 ( Sophomore at Bartlett High ).
