GMERG Report predicts sharp growth in Memphis auto industry

  • The Greater Memphis automotive industry has grown 81.5% over the past 10 years to end 2022 as a $3.7 billion industry with 1,153 companies and 18,122 employees, according to a new report from the Greater Memphis Economic Research Group (GMERG).
  • The region’s automobile and auto parts manufacturing sector is expected to grow 57% in the next five years, including electric vehicle manufacturing growth of +20%, per the report.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. As Site Director for three of Charles River Laboratories’ Memphis locations, Will Isom is responsible for CRL’s cell therapy manufacturing services. CRL currently employs more than 20,000 people in 100-plus facilities in more than 20 countries. Chamber launches GMERG, hires executive director

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023) – The Greater Memphis Chamber today announced a new name, leadership, and staff additions for its economic research and analysis arm, which has been renamed the Greater Memphis Economic Research Group, or GMERG (pronounced “G-merge”).
