The Greater Memphis Chamber takes an active approach to monitor economic trends and conditions impacting the Greater Memphis Region. On June 23, 2021, new jobs data for May 2021 was released for metropolitan areas nationwide. Relative to this release, we highlight the updated job recovery as well as call attention to the specific industries of Professional and Business Services and Leisure and Hospitality.

  • Alongside other major metropolitan areas in the State of Tennessee, job growth in Greater Memphis expanded slightly in its May 2021 seasonally adjusted nonfarm payroll (job) estimates.
