MEMPHIS, TN – The Greater Memphis Chamber, in partnership with Memphis in May International Festival and ARTSmemphis, today unveiled the official 2025 commemorative poster celebrating South Korea as the honored country for the Memphis in May International Festival. The unveiling ceremony took place at the Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis with business leaders and community members in attendance.
Created by acclaimed Memphis artist Therrious “Therro The Kid” Davis, the poster artfully captures the vibrant cultural exchange between Memphis and South Korea while highlighting the growing economic partnership between the two regions.
The selection of South Korea reflects the country’s increasing presence in the Greater Memphis region, where investments have surpassed $85 million since 2019. This commitment has already created 400 new jobs through innovative companies such as SK Innovation, HMM American Shipping, and Hyosung HICO.
Leading this wave of investment, Hyosung HICO exemplifies the strength of Korean enterprises in Memphis. The company’s state-of-the-art power transformer manufacturing facility and recent announcement of expansion have not only created high-skilled jobs but also demonstrate why Memphis continues to attract major South Korean businesses seeking to expand their U.S. operations.
Artist Therrious “Therro The Kid” Davis, a 2018 graduate of the Memphis College of Art and native of Orange Mound, was selected through ARTSmemphis’ artist grantee program to create this year’s commemorative poster. Davis, who works primarily in brush and ink and digital mediums, is known for artwork that explores themes ranging from nostalgia and spirituality to pop culture and politics.
The 2025 Memphis in May International Festival features a comprehensive schedule of events throughout the year, including economic development delegations between Memphis and South Korea, cultural exhibitions, and business networking opportunities. Last year alone, South Korea accounted for 40% of the region’s total exports, valued at $7.1 billion, providing an excellent foundation for expanded business opportunities and cultural exchange.
About The Greater Memphis Chamber
One of Memphis’ oldest institutions, dating back to 1838, the Greater Memphis Chamber is a privately funded nonprofit that serves as the region’s lead economic development organization and the “Voice of Memphis Business” on local, state, and national issues.
