What is your business celebrating? An opening of a new location, product launch, expansion, renovation, or anniversary?

archimania moved from the South Main Arts District of Memphis, a location we were at for over two decades, to 663 South Cooper Street in the Cooper-Young District

What does your company bring to the Memphis market? Why is it unique?

Our studio is a collective of 23 diverse thinkers/designers who contribute to a unique range of knowledge, talents, and skillsets to inform the design of countless creative and collaborative environments. The common driver of our work remains integrating tight budgets with unique contexts that lead to creative solutions based upon authentic formal and material expression.

We view each project as a unique opportunity to lead a community’s understanding of the built environment and the value of design. We have become known for delivering excellence in design with tight budget restraints. archimania is currently nationally ranked 8th in design and 41st in sustainability by ARCHITECT magazine, and our clients’ projects have received over 260 total awards.

Our services range from designing single-family homes, cultural facilities, schools, offices, and multi-family housing to master planning university campuses and outdoor performance venues. You may have seen some of our projects around town – Ballet Memphis, Hattiloo Theatre, The Blues Foundation, The Grove at GPAC, Memphis Botanic Garden’s Live at the Garden, and, soon, The University of Memphis Scheidt Family Music Center

archimania has received:

· more AIA awards [over 170] than any other firm in Memphis

· recognition for both partners’ elevation to the College of Fellows (FAIA) in Design

· national ranking in ARCHITECT magazine as 8th in design in 2018

· national attention for our work on projects registered with International Living Future Institute (for Zero Energy, Zero Emissions, and Zero Carbon, including AIA 2030 Challenge) and USGBC (LEED Platinum)

Why did you decide to move to your new location?

We had an opportunity to purchase the building on South Cooper and jumped on it. When we opened our doors for business in 1995, we were pioneers on South Main with a few others. We liked the idea of being involved in a district that showed potential in developing into a more urban and active district. We see a similar potential in the connector between Overton Square and Cooper-Young as a more walkable and urban environment. Additionally, we saw great potential in sharing with others how a vintage 1950s strip building could be reinvented as a modern office.
