Get to know this Memphis business with a Q&A with Spark Printing President Jeff Cowens:

SparkWhy Memphis? Why this location?

The best answer is why not Memphis? I’m a transplant from Cincinnati and my investor is a lifelong Memphian, but we both share the same love and desire to continue to support the growth of our city.

We chose this location because of proximity to some of our printing partners, the size of our building and of course the value of shipping with FedEx in our backyard.

What does your business do or provide?

Spark Printing is a commercial print shop specializing is everything from business cards to wide-format banners. We offer custom design and a unique spin on traditional print. We invested in print technology that uses foil and dimensional varnish to bring flat prints to life; you can truly SEE and FEEL the difference. Our MGI is one of ten in the country and it’s in Memphis!

Why did you join the chamber?

I want people to know who Spark Printing is and while attending chamber events is great for networking and learning about other businesses in the city; being a member gives your business a certain level of credibility.

What was your motivation for opening your own business?

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and love the fact that I can help build something from the ground up that one day can be passed on to a future generation.

Who is your target market?

We really are in business for everyone. We’ve done amazing print pieces for some big names like the City of Memphis, National Civil Rights Museum and St. Jude. And we’ve done business cards and envelopes for some small businesses in town as well. We are built to suit the needs of the individual client we’re working with.
