As a sub-group of The Greater Memphis Chamber’s We Build 901 Collaborative, Women Build 901 Too! has recently received national recognition by the U.S. Chamber Foundation Center for Education and Workforce as a benchmark program that’s building pathways for women in construction. The program was formed to attract job seekers to the trade in efforts to address the shortage of nearly 2,000 workers in the construction industry in Memphis.

Greater Memphis Workforce Development Board Accepting Applications for New COVID-19 Relief Grant
The Greater Memphis Workforce Development Board was awarded a grant via the CARES Act. This grant will allow Greater Memphis to provide additional training dollars to employers of Fayette, Lauderdale, Shelby, and Tipton Counties effected by COVID-19. The funding is only available for training taking place between September 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020.
Bank of America Connects Memphis-Area Youth to Workforce Success
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Bank of America recognized the extraordinary potential of two college freshmen, Hannah Blackwell and Akaash Seemakurty, by selecting them as 2020 Student Leaders (#BofAStudentLeaders). These two recent Shelby County Schools graduates completed the bank’s summer program, an experience full of leadership opportunities, civic engagement, and workforce skills-building. Both students expressed how well the Student Leaders program prepared them for starting as freshmen at two different universities this fall.
