Chamber, Accident Fund offer Memphis businesses workers’ comp insurance

MSS Steel opens Memphis steel plant, creating 129 clean energy jobs

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—May 18, 2023 — Nextracker Inc. (NASDAQ:NXT), a global market leader in utility-scale solar trackers, and MSS Steel Tubes USA, a joint venture of Metalogalva and Soufer, today announced the commissioning of a new Tennessee factory to manufacture low-carbon steel components for Nextracker’s solar tracking systems. The Memphis-based facility will manufacture Nextracker steel torque tubes, creating 129 jobs and generating millions of dollars in local economic investment.

Chamber Names First Workforce Leadership Academy Class

Memphis Workforce Leadership Academy has selected 24 fellows for its inaugural class.
Fellows will learn how to improve outcomes for workers and employers in Memphis as Greater Memphis prepares for unprecedented job growth.
Greater Memphis Chamber was one of eight organizations chosen earlier this year for a Workforce Leadership Academy by the Aspen Institute.

Teacher externs will receive $2,500 stipend and a $200 gift card for classroom supplies

The summer program pays high school teachers a stipend to spend two weeks with a host company, providing them with hands-on experience in industries related to the subjects they teach and with classroom resources.
