Chamber’s 2020 Mid-Year Chairman’s Forum to Focus on “After the Virus”
On Tuesday, June 23, join the Greater Memphis Chamber Chairman Willie Gregory for the Chamber’s first virtual Mid-Year Chairman’s Forum. Chairman Gregory will give a brief update on the activity the Chamber has engaged in during the first half of the year. Following Chamber updates, we will have Benjamin Pring, co-founder of Cognizant’s Center for the Future of Work, as the keynote speaker.
Ben will discuss “After the Virus.” His discussion will center around what is going to be changed? What technologies we will use? How we will go back to physical facilities to work? What about travel, security, health and safety? Ben feels it is “unrealistic to think that we will go back to normal and we as leaders need to adjust.” Ben has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, the London Times, Forbes, Fortune, the MIT Review, the Daily Telegraph, Quartz, Inc., Axios, the Australian, and the Economic Times.

Chamber Recap | May 13-17, 2019
It was a busy week at the Greater Memphis Chamber. Here’s a quick overview of some of the important events and activities from the week of May 16, 2019.
Legislative update
On May 17th, the Chamber’s State lobbyist, Wendell Moore, briefed members of the Government Affairs Council and members of the Chairman’s Circle Public Policy Task Force on this past legislative session. Wendell shared with the group that Shelby County received over $19 million in appropriations during this session for a number of projects. Wendell urged the group to consider pulling the City of Memphis and Shelby County (including the individual municipalities) together to prioritize the top two to three priorities for the Greater Memphis region, saying that a consolidated effort in the 2020 legislative session could offer more opportunity for Memphis and Shelby County.
Wendell is developing a final report, which we will share with the board and our membership as soon as it is complete.
